Invitation Letter

Dear Colleague,

I have the pleasure of inviting you to the “First International Congress of the International Society of Proprioceptive Disorders (ISPROD),” a unique platform that brings together different disciplines’ experiences on different subjects such as sensory motor problems, proprioception, posture and specific learning disabilities.

The meeting, which will take place on May 8-9, 2020 in Izmir, is for all professionals involved in motor disorders, learning disorders and who wish to discover the latest advances in neuroscience on these topics and their relationships.

We know today – through scientific research and hands-on experience – that everyone has different learning abilities. Despite that, the education systems pay little attention to those differences and do little to overcome the specific learning difficulties – such as dyslexia– experienced by a considerable percentage of the students. This leaves both the students – and their families – in a dilemma, with little knowledge of what to do and whom to turn so that they can help their children overcome those difficulties and get a good education.

This multi-faceted problem requires teachers, psychologists, families and different disciplines to work together. As there is a strong link between cognitive development and motor control, new approaches are developing beyond conventional rehabilitation based essentially on a re-education of written or oral language. These approaches allow us to better understand the motor phenomena commonly arising with “dys” disorders. All these new approaches aim to make a synthesis based on the different theories that try to explain these disorders.

This two-day meeting aims to bring together the different disciplines so that we can share information and generate new new nosological and therapeutic approaches allowing professionals to better take care of “dys” children.

In this meeting, many leading experts from different disciplines will share their experience. There will also be poster sessions. You can find the scientific program in this web site.

Our meeting will take place in Izmir, Turkey – a historical settlement close to ancient cities of Pergamon, Miletus and Ephesus where famous ancient physicians and scientists – such as Galen, Thales, Anaximander and Anaximenes –lived. You may want to spend a few days before or after the conference to explore the Aegean coasts of Turkey and its archaeological, cultural and natural sites.

We are looking forward to see you among us. You can register here for the meeting and find a hotel in the accommodation section.
